Western Interiors MagazineIn the most recent issue of Western Interiors and Design {Dec 08/Jan 09}
there was a story about a BARN.  Not an ordinary barn, but instead one built for the purpose of serving a family.  It is no secret that Barnhouse Living is a current trend to which I have a deep personal affection.  Regardless of whether you would rather live in an Urban Cowtown Loft, or a remote Lake Cabin, anyone who appreciates Rustic * Western * Vintage Decor will the enjoy the design of this Ski Cabin/American Barn

Kelly & Abramson Architecture Architect Robert Kelly, of Kelly & Abramson Architecture in Oakland, California was the master of taking the BARN from a doodle to a drawing.  True to the firm’s philosophy as it is stated on their website, Kelly & Abramson “built a unique environment that met the needs of a modern family while drawing from historical building styles that have been developed and refined over hundreds of years.”

In fact, no structure could be more historical than the American Barn.  Whether it was for storing crops, or for raising livestock, the BARN has always been about preserving life.   And because of it’s utilitarian nature, the concept of using the uncomplicated barn as a model for a home in the modern world highlights the trend of minimizing consumerism, being green and mostly being GRATEFUL for the simple pleasures of life.
