REST OF THE STORY: Topanga Banjo Festival
On Sunday, May 17th, 2009, our friends Bobbi Jean and Jim, owners of the online Western store, OutWest Marketing, attended the 49th Annual Topanga Banjo Festival in Southern California. I’m just thrilled that BJ sent over a little story about the event, along with some photos… enjoy the quick read and put this fun event on your calendar for next spring!!
The day started out cool and foggy but within a short time it was HOT HOT HOT. Jim, the “cash wrangler” had a jacket on for a very short time. This was our first out door festival, we practiced putting the tent up and down a couple of times on our back patio but we weren’t confident we’re get it up easily. Viola – it’s just as easy as the box said!

Our number one seller was the Neck Buddy – cooling bandanna to wear to lower body temp about 10 degrees. Paramount Ranch is the former film location for Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman and has been home to the Topanga Banjo Fiddle Contest and Folk Festival for a number of years. There were a few other vendors in this section including good friend Michael owner of Cattle Headquarters {pictured BELOW}. Nearby performance areas included the Railroad and Pavilion Stages along with ongoing jam sessions on every corner. At one point in the late afternoon there were 6 different groups jamming near us.
Really fun!

The Tumbling Tumbleweeds are a hot new Western music group based on the traditions of the Sons of the Pioneers. They are also good buddies and, if possible, we take a vendor booth wherever they perform. After their stage performance they came over and serenaded us, even invited Bobbi Jean to come up with them while they premiered their original jingle written just for us! {how cute is Ms. Bobbi Jean pictured with the Tumbling Tubleweeds BELOW??}
Wow ~~ Bobbi Jean
