New from Maggie at Whispering Pines Catalog… they have an amazing new blog called the Rustic Wedding Chic. You’re gonna love it ~ tons of great ideas whether you are getting married, looking for tabletop ideas for an upcoming party, or for fresh ideas for taking photographs. ENJOY!!!
I am happy to be back with a new wedding article for you Cactus Creek Daily readers. Recently, I have dedicated a great deal of time to launching my redesigned wedding blog, Rustic Wedding Chic. The goal of this “new” site is to inspire and guide the rustic country bride with an assortment of helpful planning hints and insight. Here are just a few of my current favorite rustic wedding ideas:
#1 – Chalkboard Theme – I have seen an incredible increase in the use of chalkboards at country weddings. These functional yet fun items are being used as welcome signs, menu displays, and even place cards. Here is the complete chalkboard collection.

#2- Long Wedding Table – Gone are the days when a long table meant you were at a bad banquet, brides are opting for this sleek style as it brings the idea of a “farm table” to life. See more example of long wedding tables here, here and here.

#3- Colored High Heels – A white dress? Yes. Plain white shoes? No way. Let your creative side go crazy by indulging in pink, green, blue or any other color that suits you. Here is a picture of the shoes I wore at my wedding.

#4- Country Style boutonniere – This may seem like a detail that not many will notice but I know of several brides who want to find just the right boutonniere since it helps to complete the look for the handsome groom. Right now I am seeing brides trend towards field flowers or greenery for the husband to be.

#5- Wildflower Bouquets – When I got married I spent countless hours searching for the right bouquet and with so many options out there it is easy for a bride to get overwhelmed. I have been taking note of a very graceful movement towards wildflowers. Brides are choosing the simple yet chic look as a way of coping with the stress of wedding planning. Or maybe they are just trying to bring a naturalistic beauty to their most special day. Either way I am happy to be seeing these flowers make a come back.
