CACTUS CREEK STUDIO: An Introduction
As if three little boys {all under the age of 5}, a hubby, a house, a puppy, a booming blog and design business weren’t enough,
I’ve decided to open a Design Studio. Oh yeah, and did I mention the economy stinks?? Ha ha!! I’m sure that I’m crazy but I’m just so excited to have a place of my own that I don’t care!!

{The front door of the new Cactus Creek Design Studio ~ still a blank slate}
This has been in the works for a couple of months now but it’s starting to get down to the wire so I thought that it was time to tell the world… I have a TON to do and I want to share it all ~ I also know that lay offs are leading other people to start new ventures right now, and it’s good to have someone else in your boat!!
Most of you know that this isn’t my first rodeo… when it comes to opening retail venues I’ve had my share of experiences. At one time Cactus Creek was a 6000 sq ft retail store here in our little town of Weston, MO {just outside of Kansas City}. It was a great business, but then the boys came along and I just couldn’t do it all. The new Cactus Creek Design Studio, which is also going to be here in Weston, is going to a bit different from the old store. It is VERY small and it will only be open by appointment and for special events.
I am hoping to have at least one trunk show/special event/art show per month but we’ll see how things go… Mainly the Studio will be my office {working out of the house with the boys is harder than I thought it would be}, and also a place for clients to come and look through books and swatches, and plan their spaces.
I’m supposed to take possession of the space on April 1st but I’m skeptical that it will be that soon. In the meantime I have been working on ordering the new lights and planning the interior…
I need five large pendant lights and I’ve chosen these Rawhide Pendants from Sua International. They have a killer selection of rustic lighting, I can hardly wait to see these hanging in the studio!!
For the walls I want to be bold in setting the tone of the space so I’m going with wallpaper. Actually I’ll only use wallpaper on two walls and charcoal-colored paint on everything else. These are the patterns I’ve chosen..

So now I’m off to work on updating my accounting program. {The only part of being a merchant that I really can’t stand!!} Ha ha…
till tomorrow ~ xo, fancy

Congrats Fancy! It is so rewarding as you well know, and it can become quite additive. Be sure and post all of the design details of your new studio.

Thanks, Anna!! I’ll definitely be keeping you posted as I’m sure that it will take up ALL of my time and thoughts once we get back from RT!!
