dogfish head 90 minute ipa

Now that we are carrying beer in our Weston MO shop we are excited to feature one great beer every week and tell you a few fun facts about some of our favorite brews.

We are starting off with one of my personal favorites – Dogfish Head 90 Minute IPA.  The story of how 90 Minute came to be starts with a food show and involves a trip to a thrift shop – so you know we love this beer even more now.  Read the whole story HERE.

And for the quick version… here are a few more fun facts about this DELICIOUS Imperial IPA!!!

#1 Dogfish Head 90 Minute IPA started being brewed in 1999. Before it was cool to brew IPAs.

#2 IBU 90 – that’s super hoppy!! {IBU stands for International Bitterness Units - Often, the brewer will give you a helpful guide to which beers are bitter and which are not. It’s often found on the menu as “IBU.” IBU stands for “International Bitterness Units.” A lighter, lager like beer usually has around 5-10 IBU’s. A more bitter beer like an India Pale Ale (IPA) is more likely to be 50 or above.

#3 It is called 90 minute IPA because it boils for 90 minutes when processed. Dogfish Head brewery also offers a 120 Minute IPA and a 60 Minute IPA {sold at Cactus Creek, too}!!  “90 Minute IPA was the first beer Dogfish continuously hopped, allowing for a pungent — but not crushing — hop flavor. ” -

#4 Esquire calls it “perhaps the best IPA in America.”

This is not an IPA to start with – the taste is bold and citrusy but for hopheads it’s a go-to beer and a bold one to take to friends who love to try new flavors!!
