BACK TO SCHOOL: Chalk Board Paint
Chalk boards are a thing of the past for modern schools. Replaced by big white boards & projection screens, chalk is generally relegated to sidewalks, and school chalk boards are now vintage finds that are hip to hang on the wall of a dining room, hallway or coffee house. But there are a mighty large number of uses for chalk board paint ~ I adore this chalkboard horse from Houndstooth Design. They have a large selection of animals chalked up in their ETSY Store…
The Chalkboard Globe is a popular way to salvage globes from FLEA MARKETS & make them new again. The one {above} from Design Sponge has the continents outlined, but I’ve also seen them all black & covered with words of wisdom, travel dreams, or kiddo’s doodles.
I am a huge fan of RESCUED JUNK by Old Crow Farm ~ a married team of true junkers, based in Iowa, who are always spot on in their industrial vintage taste & BIG ideas. For example, this vintage fan updated with chalkboard paint.

I’m always drawn to open shelves in the kitchen… the chalkboard paint on these from Apartment Therapy makes them even more interesting.
MORE Chalkboards {plus more chalkboard cabinets}
after the BREAK >>>>>>>>>>
More chalkboard cabinets, these from re-nest are a bit more whimsical… I can only imagine how much kids would love these. What a great idea for keeping their attention {and your eye on them} while you’re working on dinner in the evenings. Kids under your feet while cooking… never mind.

Chalk boards for coffee houses, sandwich shops & ice cream stores are all the rage. Putting the menu on a portable sign like the surfboard above is an even greater idea for all those pop up shops!! {via Poetic Home via AntyDiluvian}.

Chalkboard pots from iDiY… think I may borrow this idea for the little cacti we sell at the Cactus Creek STORE. And no chalkboard round-up would be complete without the chalkboard frame {via Sweetwater Baby} … perfect for the entry hall!!!
My boys love the Disney Show ‘Good Luck Charlie’. I’ve watched more of my share of it also this summer… best part of the entire show is their Chalkboard Fridge. My boys love it and I was thinking it would be a great idea for a basement fridge or maybe a salvage find that is making due until you can by the refrigerator of your dreams….

I know chalkboard paint is everywhere and I also put some on jars so I know what’s in it…but the thought of having chalk on my hands gives me goose bumps. Just like some people can’t have the sund of nails on a board. The chalk freaks me out :)
One trend I’m missing out on :)
