Due to a perfect brand-new baby boy named Jack we haven’t had any Rustic Wedding Posts from Whispering Pines Catalog in a couple of months… but the new Mama is back and ready to give us some WEDDING TIPS, just in time for wedding season to BLOOM…
Spring has sprung just as wedding season has and with weddings in full bloom we are starting to see some great new trends. Some of the most fun rustic wedding trends we are seeing this year help to make the special day unique as the couple themselves. The overall trends we are seeing has to do with couples stepping out of the traditional arena of things and into the nontraditional world.
Rustic Wedding Trend #1: Nontraditional Bridesmaid Dresses
Being a part of someones wedding is an honor but lets face it, sometimes the dress is not so much. Currently we are seeing brides opt for less traditional and more unique gowns for their parties. Here are two great examples of the new bridesmaid dress from Anthropologie!
Rustic Wedding Trend #2: Nontraditional Place Cards & Table Numbers
Sure, people need to be able to find their table at a wedding, but who said the numbers need to be just printed on a piece of paper and stuck in any old frame? We are seeing brides using items like chalkboards to let their guest know where they are to sit and then printing the table numbers on the table linens themselves. This is also a great DIY project.

Rustic Wedding Trend #3: Offering Your Guest A Nontraditional Mode Of Transportation
So many rustic weddings take place in unique venues so why not make the most of that space and think about ways to move your guest from ceremony to reception in a memorable way. Here is a great example of using a horse and trailer decorated to fit the wedding to move guest around.

Rustic Wedding Trend #4: The Nontraditional Wedding Invitation
Finding a wedding invitation may not be the easiest thing in the world considering all of the choices out there but we are seeing brides opt for an invitation that fits the location of their wedding and not feeling boxed in to the plain white invite. By picking an invitation that fits your location it can help to set the tone for the wedding and allows guest to get the feel of your big day right off the bat.
Thanks Maggie and congrats on your baby blessing!!! xoxo, fancy

Dah dah duh daaaah… another Wedding installment from Whispering Pines Catalog ~ this one is all about VDay and all the love that’s in the air.
Be sure to check out their Rustic Wedding Blog for more ideas to inspire your BIG day!!
With the holidays behind us we now can look forward to the next one! Valentine’s Day is coming up next month and that means so are the Valentine’s Day Weddings. A Valentine’s Day wedding theme does not have to be stuck in the third grade meaning if the idea of conversation hearts and red construction paper cut outs don’t make it to the top of your wedding décor list we found some other ideas that we think will.

Add a rustic touch with wood hearts that can be found on ETSY or add that punch of red color with great shoes and have your bridesmaid wear classic yet themed perfect red plaid dresses. Fun red lollipops look great when put in large glass containers or an all red sweets table would make a huge impact. Make your wedding cake festive by having a red velvet heart cupcake cake! Check out the inspiration board we put together for you which we think will help make your Valentine’s Day special.

I about melted when I saw the ideas that Maggie from Whispering Pines Catalog sent in this month… and the pictures, oh the pictures!! I love the antlers down the center of the table, so simple and stately. And the cake that looks like a log ~ seriously fantastic. And the shawls… you’ve got to read about it all!!
With the winter season here so are the wonderful winter weddings! Here at Whispering Pines Catalog we have seen a spike in the Ski Lodge Wedding Theme. This theme can be so great to work with since there are so many ski details that can be worked into the wedding. When having a winter wedding think about fun ways to bring the outdoors in.

Have a pine cone bouquet or use white glitter to act as snow and reflect the light. Instead of a guest book think about having an old pair of skis for everyone to sign or a large piece of birch bark for your guest to sign. Think about low candle light with birch candles, which you can find over at our wedding collection or fun twig votive holders which you can find from us as well. One thing to think about when having a winter wedding is to keep your guests warm. Offer a basket of shawls for your guests to get cozy as the night goes on, or offer a warm tasty drink such as hot apple cider, or the popular ski lodge drink, a “sprained ankle”. The possibilities are endless with a winter wedding.

thanks Maggie… wonderful as usual!! xo,fancy

Another installment from our friends at Whispering Pines Catalog & their Rustic Wedding BLOG… every month I think this is the best one yet… that said, this is the best one yet!! Enjoy the photos ~ be inspired!!
A wedding theme can take on many shapes and one of the most popular we are seeing is the infusion of vintage charm with rustic elegance. The vintage inspired theme can be great for brides who want a unique feel and distant feel to their big day. The idea of collecting both new and era pieces makes for an incredible and interesting decor. Think about items like old picture frames, nature inspired items, vintage clocks…the list goes on and on. Here you can see how by adding vintage luggage adds a personal, vintage and unique look and works perfectly with the rustic décor.

Another installment to our Rustic Wedding Series from Whispering Pines Rustic Wedding Blog and Guide…
One of the things we love most about rustic weddings is that there are so many different interpretations of the word “rustic”, which is why every wedding is unique and distinct. One trend we have been watching over here at Whispering Pines is the idea of mixing in a gingham pattern with the wedding decor. One reason why gingham works so well for a “rustic” wedding is because it mixes in a bit of a country feel without going over the top. Gingham comes in so many different colors- you can have a black and white gingham or a yellow and white or go for the traditional red and white.

Another reason why we love this pattern is because for some reason it really evokes the feel of summertime and all of those fun summertime actives. Checkout the ideas we have but together for you to help jump start your thinking of gingham, then be sure to visit our Rustic Wedding Blog for more wedding inspiration and ideas.

Another installment to our Rustic Wedding Series from Whispering Pines Rustic Wedding Blog and Guide…
I often hear the term “nontraditional wedding” thrown around on different wedding blogs and in wedding magazines. This always leads to think about well what is “traditional” anyway, if a wedding is supposed to be about two people who are in love and their specific vision for their day then it might be hard to classify anything as “nontraditional” or “traditional” since those words can mean so many different things to so many different people. Today I wanted to show off what could be seen as “nontraditional” but still looks like an amazing wedding. This inspiration board I put together from a few different weddings but it demonstrates how your “nontraditional” wedding can be elegant, personal and beautiful.

Here we have a Texas themed wedding complete with stars and a classic bride with her western bridesmaids. What a perfect way to be traditionally nontraditional! Check out our rustic wedding blog for more wedding inspiration and ideas.

Rustic weddings come in every shape and size, one of our favorite is the
“Farm Wedding”. Although a farm may not seem the most romantic place to tie the knot, these great looking weddings show how irresistible a farm setting can be.

We love red trucks, hay bales, barns, field flowers, brides in boots, and the idea of a great country music band getting everyone to do-si-do! Check out Whispering Pines and our Rustic Wedding Blog today for more inspiration…

Another intallment from our friend Maggie at Whispering Pines Catalog…
One of the major rustic wedding trends we are seeing here at Whispering Pines is the infusion of nature with the classic wedding theme and how one item can be used to build an entire wedding storyboard.
Birds are a perfect example. Brides are finding small garden- style statues, like our Elsie Songbirds with their earthy patina add a sophisticated touch of nature to centerpieces and tabletop. So let the beautiful shapes and colors of the natural world inspire your choices when planning your rustic wedding.

For a while now I’ve been a fan of the Whispering Pines Catalog, and also their Wedding Blog. Even though I’m not a bride to be ~ or ever will be again ~ it’s fun to see the pretty dresses, flowers and table settings. You just never know when you’ll find the next inspiration for your own big party {or small, intimate gathering}. So I contacted Maggie from Whispering Pines and asked her to write a little something about Rustic Weddings ~ a subject near and dear to her heart…

Here at Whispering Pines we outfit a rustic lifestyle…so it was a natural fit when we began helping brides find the perfect touches for their rustic weddings, be it lakeside, on a mountain top, in a vineyard, a rustic barn or a simple backyard affair. We find rustic weddings often bring in the beauty of their natural surroundings with the simplicity of field flowers, earthy favors, and dramatic entrances! Creative brides and grooms expand on their rustic venues by choosing things like pine cone and cedar boutonnieres, burlap table runner, and birch bark signs and when they can, serve up organic food from local farms.
