Maggie has been contributing to the CCD blog for sometime with Rustic Wedding Posts and in the last year she has turned those posts into an amazing website, one book due out in August, and another on its way in the next year. I am so proud to know her and watch her success… enjoy her classic style and things she loves. And DEFINITELY spend some time on her website, Rustic Wedding Chic!!

What is your job and how did you get started?? Founder & editor of Rustic Wedding Chic wedding blog and author of Rustic Wedding Chic the book.
What project are you working on right now?? In addition to maintaing the daily blog I am currently working on a second book, Barn Wedding Chic.
Best decorating advice?? Beige and cream goes with everything!

Best wedding tip?? Enjoy every minute, it goes by so fast!
What is your best business advice?? Don’t stop to see what everyone else is doing. Someone was telling me that if you take the time to focus on what other businesses are doing you start to lose sight of what you should be doing!
What is your best parenting advice? My motto since becoming a mom is to “just roll with it”. Some days are good ones, and others are not so great, but at the end of the day we are so blessed so I try to keep things in perspective.
What is your perfect day?? Being able to wake up naturally (which might never ever happen again) and just spend the day with my family without any time restrictions.
What are your plans for the future? Rustic Wedding Chic has grown at lightning speed so it is so hard to project where we will be in the next few years. I would say that I am looking forward to adding to the collection of books with my publisher Gibbs Smith. Rustic Wedding Chic the book comes out in August and we are currently working on a second book as we speak (well type). My future plans for my personal life would be to keep enjoying my family and being open to where life may take us.

Hope y’all had a great Labor Day Weekend & are safe and sound back home, back to work & back to school!! Today I am continuing the BEST OF CCD posts, tomorrow a couple of new things for ya’ so be sure to stop by… We have done a lot of WEDDING POSTS this year and there will be more to come, but this one from Summer 2010 is the most popular to date… enjoy and remember that these are great ideas whether you’re a bride-to-be, or just looking for some fresh floral ideas!!
Another installment to our Rustic Wedding Series from Whispering Pines Rustic Wedding Blog and Guide…
Flowers play such a large part of a wedding that we here at Whispering Pines took great notice when we started to see a trend that would replace some of those flowers with something a little more earthy and natural. We recently started to see a rise in using moss as centerpieces replacing the traditional flower centerpieces. At first the idea of moss may not see special or elegant enough for a wedding but we think once you see some pictures you will change you mind.

If your not 100% convinced that moss alone would work well at your wedding, think about using moss in addition to your flowers to add a little something extra to those flower centerpieces. Adding in table numbers, branches or anything else that compliments your theme can enrich the look of the moss and complete your wedding look. Be sure to visit our Rustic Wedding Blog for more wedding inspiration and ideas.

This is fantastic, Maggie!! AND you can definitely use this idea in your house, anytime for any occasion ~ great ideas!! Thanks so much… xo,fancy
NOTE: since this article first appeared Whispering Pines launched a wonderful new wedding blog, be sure to check it out: Rustic Wedding Chic. You’ll love it!!!

No matter what kind of event you are planning, great invitations are a must!! They set the tone for the whole event & get your guests prepared for the fun ahead… where to be, what to wear & what to bring… For WEDDINGS, getting the invitations ”just right” is essential. Today we have another great post in the Rustic Wedding Series that Maggie from Whispering Pines writes for CCD.com, all about finding the perfect RUSTIC WEDDING INVITATIONS. enjoy…

Here at Rustic Wedding Chic we spend all of our time pouring over beautiful rustic and country weddings. We love country wedding dresses, rustic inspiration and real weddings but for me one of my favorite thing to feature is rustic wedding invitations. A wedding invitation is just as important as the dress, venue or menu because it informs your guest as to what type of wedding they will be attending. The days of brides having limited options are gone and brides are choosing an invitation that is special, beautiful and unique to their wedding.

Here are the rustic & country invitations that we are loving at the moment and feel would be the perfect addition to any bride planning her big day. Click here to see more rustic & country wedding invitations.

GREAT COLLECTION!!! thanks, Maggie… xo+fancy

WEDDING WEEK at CCD.com… my mind is whirling with all of the fantastic ideas and I know that I barely scratched the surface. I’m thinking that I need to throw myself a huge birthday bash sometime so that I can take all of this inspiration and create a really fantastic party. I’m pretty sure that the boys wouldn’t appreciate centerpieces with succulents, or flea market china, for one of their birthday parties or even just a dinner of corn dogs & tater tots.
I did, just so you know, try to put together a “Western Wedding” post, but I couldn’t find many sources that were even close to hip so I decided to back off from that idea. I did find this faux bois wedding cake {ABOVE} & strolled through all of the pictures which show a dreamy winter wonderland wedding ~ be sure to check it out!!
Hope y’all have a great weekend ~ it’s Platte County Fair time here in our neck of the woods. Growing up in the big city of Houston I’m still intrigued by county fairs & demolition derbies. It’s a long way from the city lights but I can’t imagine anything more fun on a hot summer night!! Next week is Bible School for the boys so I may play hooky a few days from CCD.com… sooo, I guess I’ll see you on the other side. xo+fancy

Here in Weston MO we have a wonderful working farm called Red Barn Farm… they offer school tours, pumpkin patches, hay mazes, apple orchards, peach tress, a fantastic general store, and a gorgeous barn for events… it’s a beautiful, peaceful place with gracious owners and award winning facilities. In fact that is where I had my first baby shower many moons ago…
Over the last few years more and more brides are going to Red Barn Farm to seal the deal with their true loves and many of the those weddings are photographed by a local photographer, Angela Davis. Her images are fun, flirty and full of RUSTIC * VINTAGE Wedding Ideas.

Angela was kind enough to share some of her photos with me as a part of our WEDDING WEEK… many of them are great ideas of items you can find in your local flea markets & antique stores, styled just right.

{i love this picture and the whole idea of having mis-matched china instead of traditional place settings}

and the beautiful bride…

The theme for the week is WEDDINGS… not just any old wedding ~ we are trying to find nitty*gritty*rustic*organic*western*vintage ideas that will take a couple off the beaten path. Yesterday I posted pictures of Vintage Trailers & Airstreams and somehow missed this fine set up from the Junk Gypsies when they styled the Miranda Lambert + Blake Shelton wedding earlier this summer…

How’s that for a fine place to take a seat??
And there is soooo much more from this wedding that will get your creative juices flowing ~ first the back story for those of y’all who have never ever read this blog… the Junk Gypsy Company is based out of Round Top, Texas and is an online source for all things rowdy, reckless & a lil’ bit rock & roll ~ from great tees to jewelry to one-of-a-kind treasures for your home. The business was started by two girls & their mama and has grown to be an inspirational story that will have you wanting to hit the road, create your own great style & get a little Southern soul in your blood.

Miranda Lambert {country super star} has known the Junk Gypsies for years {see the Airstream they decorated for her HERE}, and when she became engaged to Blake Shelton {also country super star, do I need to spell all this out??}, she immediately called the gypsy girls the to make the wedding a place where everyone could get down and dirty and celebrate LOVE!!!

The ideas came together one at a time but when it was all put together this was one helluva shin dig… check out all of the pics & for the WHOLE ENCHILADA visit the Junk Gypsy Blog right HERE.

For a girl that got married in Vegas many, many moons ago… the subject of weddings has been coming up a lot lately. It started with a project that I’m workingon to promote wedding resources in our small town, Weston MO ~ it’s a Weston MO Wedding Guide that I’m hoping will support all of the great, talented businesses in our community.
Then last week we finally got a peek at the new Rustic Wedding Chic blog… wow. It is packed full of great ideas for brides, but also for anyone who is planning a party & looking for BIG ideas… Maggie writes a regular Rustic Wedding Post here at Cactus Creek and we’ll get to see many more of her ideas in the coming months.

{via Once Wed}
Soooo… with all of that I have been exploring wedding websites and I am absolutely overwhelmed at all of the ideas out there!!! I have started at least four different things to write about today but I finally landed on the theme of VINTAGE TRAILERS. It’s a hot button in the vintage world right now and our VINTAGE CAMPER REVOLUTION post was one of the most popular ever so I thought you’d get a kick out of these brides who are taking the road less traveled…. ENJOY!!

{via Ruffled}
All of the photos from this wedding are amazing… long tables with simple jars of wildflowers, check out the succulent frame {more on those later this week}… the trailer is just another detail that earned this wedding the description “Hipster Parisian”.

{via Green Wedding Shoes}
Apparently the trend towards food trucks/trailers has gone to the brides. Some receptions are now being served entirely out of food trucks ~ from the bar {below}, to the dinner, to the cake {or cupcakes, pic also below}. Original, fun & easy to clean up. That’s my kind of wedding…
